Breastfeeding Promotion and Education

Breastfeeding is encouraged as the preferred feeding for all infants, including premature newborns. The Healthy People 2010 goal is to improve breastfeeding rates to 75% of infants at birth, 50% at six months of age, and 25% at one year. Through breastfeeding promotion, education, and support, the Green River District Health Department is working to achieve the goals set by Healthy People 2010 and the American Academy of Pediatrics.
